Health debt compounds quietly

This is a sample blog post — placeholder writing published to demonstrate the blog format.

Software engineers talk about technical debt: shortcuts that make this week faster and every future week slower. The same accounting applies one layer down, to the body and mind doing the engineering.

Skipped sleep, skipped meals, skipped friendships — each one is a loan taken out against the foundation. The interest doesn’t arrive as one dramatic bill. It arrives as a small tax on everything: slower thinking, thinner patience, games that used to feel vivid going flat.

The point of the metaphor is not guilt. Debt is sometimes worth taking on — briefly, knowingly, with a repayment plan. The failure mode is the quiet kind: borrowing against health by default, for games that were supposed to be the reward.
